A Robin at the Window

(A Reflection of  Narsicism)

Pity that poor bird
Who attacks his own image.

You might say its absurd
And question his linage.

Does he guard his tree branch?
...Or is it rejection
That leads him by chance
To smash his reflection?
Now I wonder what's running through that little head,
Cause he's back at my window -- but not to be fed.
He sings a sweet song & then does something queerer...
He flies in the face of the song in the mirror.

I hope what I do is not something like that,
To reject my successes and fall on my back.
Life should not be so much of a strain,
To behave like that little feather-brain.

So look out your window,
Look through -- right or wrong.
What you see of yourself,
Should not stop your song.
