"Isa Buck"

"Isa Buck":, my sister said,
as to our Mom she offered
her fingers raised above her head.

Mom nibbled fingers of her hand,
"Num, num, num," the phrase began,
then stopped with a disgusted, "Ugh!"
as she spit out Boxelder Bug!

Bill Holms, a Minnesota poet, encourages everyone to write poems about any subject... a Boxelder Bug for example.  Thus became the inspiration for his book, "Boxelder Bug Variations".

Above is my childhood memory about the little creature.  Later, I wrote a poem about sharing coffee with such a 'buck'.
